Fishing Trip Reviews
First time deep=sea fishing and hooked a 150 lb yellow fin tuna! It was a struggle but with the help and encouragement from Capt Brett and first mate Ryan I was able to land the tuna that was as big as me! Only thing I would change would be not to get seasick after all that exertion. Next time I will stay hydrated and let my Dad do more of the work reeling in the big fish. Jack G

I had not been offshore fishing in decades and Captain Jeff made me feel so at ease and all that was before I caught a 300 lb marlin. It just got better after that. I cannot suggest a better day.

We fished the last 2 days with Capt. Jeff and Brett Fay on the Humdinger, a classic Rybovich sportfish with an amazing history. We competed in the Rock n’ Reel Classic, the first Kona tournament of the 2016 schedule. Our first day my daughter caught not one but two shortbill spearfish, a rare species that seasoned fishermen spend their lives trying to catch. Simply amazing. On day two we caught two blue marlin, thus winning the second day’s competition and placing us second overall in the tournament. Great fun!!! The equipment on the boat is first rate and well maintained. The crew is top- notch as well. We got 4 billfish strikes and caught all 4 due to the experience of Jeff and Brett. Not one mis-step, which is critical when fishing these great fish. If you want your best chance of catching your target species here on Kona, the Humdinger can’t be beat!!!

Had the chance to book a Kona fishing charter on our trip to the big island and was fortunate to find a half day charter on the Humdinger on short notice. Having done a lot of deep sea fishing on party boats, I wasnt sure what to expect on a private charter. We never fished far from shore, maybe a mile or two at the most. We caught a small blue marlin and a rare speafish and missed a mystery bite. All in all it was a great day and the crew was fantastic. I would highly recommend them.
