My family of four chartered a trip on the Humdinger while in Kona on our boys’ spring break. We fished with Captain Brett Fay and Brandon W. the last week of March 2017. We headed out of the harbor and Brandon got all the lines/lures set. We were still getting acclimated to the setup and getting the rundown on the equipment and some tips/coaching on how to fight a fish when one of the reels went off. It was game on! How exciting! We knew immediately it was a Blue Marlin as it jumped out of the water in the distance. Thanks to some good coaching and over a half hour fight, we landed that 400 lb blue marlin! What a majestic creature, and a catch I’ll likely never forget! Brandon was able to tag and release the fish unharmed. It was quite a sight to see it swim away after that battle. It was the only hookup we had on the trip, but what a fish it was! Brett and Brandon were great hosts and really nice guys. It was fun to talk with them, and hear stories of how Brett’s dad brought this custom Rybovich to Kona. These guys are serious fishermen, and as a serious fisherman myself it was just as I had hoped for. Online booking was very quick and easy to look at availability and pricing to be able to plan your fishing trip to fit your needs. I’d recommend spending a little extra to get as much time with these guys on this boat as you can. It was also easy to add nice extras to your trip including drinks, sandwiches, go pro camera, and t-shirt right on the website. These are all reasonably priced items and very convenient so all you have to do is show up. I’d especially recommend the go-pro camera to capture video memories of your trip. Book with these guys and you won’t regret it. They know what they are doing! When I get back to Kona, I know I’ll be going out with them again. Thanks, guys!
