3/4-DAY EXCLUSIVE KONA FISHING CHARTERS

The 6-Hour Kona Fishing Charter is our most popular charter, probably because it is also the best value. This charter targets multiple species of fish, depending on the time of year you will be fishing, including Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Ahi (Yellowfin) Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Ono (Wahoo) and Shortbilled Spearfish. The extra two hours of fishing time allow us to cover more area and catch more of the tidal changes throughout the day, which is when fishing is generally best. On this charter, we will provide everything you need to catch fish. The price of the 3/4 Day Charter is for up to six passengers of any age, one price books the boat, and you are welcome to keep you catch, although we do encourage the tag and release of the Billfish for conservation purposes. No fishing license is required for this charter. The 6-Hour Kona Fishing Charter is offered twice daily and departs from the Honokohau Harbor from Slip B-4 at 6:30 AM and 11:00 AM daily. This fishing charter is the ideal activity while you are visiting the Big Island, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to fish the most renowned Blue Marlin fishery in the world.

How long is the 3/4-Day Kona Fishing Charter?

The charter is 6-Hours in length and departs twice daily from the Honokohau Harbor at 6:30 am and 11:00 am daily.

Is the fishing better on the morning or afternoon ¾-Day Kona Fishing Charter?

The fish here primarily feed on a tide change, so the biggest factor to catching fish has more to do with the rise and fall of the tides and less to do with the time of day. Having said that, most people prefer the morning charters because the water is usually calmer, the fishing pressure is lighter, and the temperatures are generally cooler.

How far offshore will we be fishing?

We fish within sight of land and rarely must venture farther than a few miles offshore here in Kona. The protected shorelines and deep water create an ideal habitat for billfish and other pelagic species and provide easy access to the most productive fishing grounds just a few minutes outside Honokohau Harbor.

How much actual fishing time will have on a 6-Hour Kona Fishing Charter?

We are usually put lines in the water and begin trolling right out of the harbor, about 5-10 minutes from where you will board the boat. On rare occasions we may run out to an area before we start to fish, but in either case, 10-20 minutes after you leave the dock, you will be fishing.

Do you offer share charters?

No, we only offer exclusive charters for up to six passengers of any age. We do not offer a shared party charter.

Is the price I see the cost per person, or for chartering the entire boat?

The price you see on the website is for the exclusive charter of the boat, for 1-6 passengers. Due to Coast Guard regulations, we are prohibited from taking more than six people on the vessel.

How many people can go on the ¾-Day Kona Fishing Charter?

The ¾-Day (6-Hour) Kona Fishing Charter is for 1-6 people. Due to Coast Guard regulations we, like most all charter boats in Kona, are strictly limited to a maximum of six passengers of any age.

Do young children count toward the number of passengers allowed on the Kona Fishing Charter?

Yes. The US Coast Guard limits our vessel to a maximum of six passengers of any age. No Exceptions.

Is there a minimum age for children?

No. You may bring children of any age on the 6-Hour Kona Fishing Charter.

Is there a bathroom on board?

Yes. There is a clean, comfortable bathroom on board.

Are the waters rough where we will be fishing?

The waters off the coat of Kona Hawaii are generally very calm. The two large volcanoes on the island shield the Kona shoreline from the trade winds which make the sea conditions very calm most days. This makes Kona a very desirable destination for families and novice anglers to enjoy a day of sportfishing.

Is there a place on board to get out of the sun while fishing?

Yes. We a comfortable salon with a couch and table that accommodates 4 people where you can get out of the sun while on your fishing charter.

What type of fishing license is required for the ¾-Day Kona Fishing Charter?

There is no fishing license required for any fishing charters in Kona Hawaii.

Are lunch and Drinks included on the ¾-Day Kona Fishing Charter?

No, but you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks on board or purchase a box lunch and drinks when you book your 6-Hour Kona Fishing Charter online. We have plenty of ice and cooler space on board to store your food and drinks for the trip.

Can we keep the fish we catch on our fishing charter?

Yes. You are welcome to keep your catch. We will even filet your fish for you and recommend a local restaurant who can prepare your catch as well. We do, however, encourage our client to tag and release all Blue Marlin and other billfish species as a matter of conservation.

Is gratuity included in the price of the charter, and if not, what is a typical gratuity for the crew?

Gratuity is not included in the price of the 6-Hour Kona Fishing Charter. A typical gratuity of 15% to 18% is similar to other service sectors and is always appreciated. Our crew members start the day several hours before you arrive and work several hours after your departure to ensure a successful and enjoyable trip for everyone.

How can I ship my fish back to enjoy after I return home?

The easiest and most cost-effective way is to freeze your fileted fish at your condo or house where you are staying and then check a small cooler of frozen fish with you as one of your checked bags on your return flight home.

The morning 6:30 AM Kona Fishing Charter is our most popular charter and ideal for people of all ages. You will be fishing just a few minutes after we pull away from the dock and we will target several different species including Marlin, Tuna, Ono and Mahimahi. Choose to spend the time trolling, targeting the giant blue marlin and other billfish that inhabit the waters just off Kona Hawaii, or, perhaps you prefer to target something to take home to enjoy like the Ono (Wahoo), Ahi (Yellowfin) Tuna or Mahimahi (Dorado or Dolphin fish). Just let us know and we tailor this fishing charter for your group.

3/4 Day Kona Fishing Charter (6 Hrs.) – 11:00 am $949

The afternoon 6-Hour Kona Fishing Charter departs at 11:00 AM and returns at 5:00 PM daily. This fishing charters targets the same species and fishing grounds as the morning Kona Fishing Charter and can be tailored to the interests and goals of your group. The fishing in Kona is best on tide changes, when the tide is rising or falling, so the time of day has less to do with when the fish bite as compared to when the tides change. The ¾ Day Fishing Charter gives us a little extra time to catch more of the tidal changes and to range further to explore more fishing areas. Due to its popularity and discounted price, this fishing charter regularly sells out, so book this fishing charter well in advance.

Terms, Conditions and Cancellation Policy

Kona deep sea fishing charter duration: 1/2 Day=4 Hours | 3/4 Day=6 Hours | Full Day=8 Hours | Full Day=10 Hours.
Morning or Afternoon charters available for 1/2 Day and 3/4 Day Charters. Full Day Charters Depart at 6:30 AM or other time mutually agreed upon in advance.
Web Special Rates Valid for online bookings only and must be paid in full at time of reservation.
Valid for direct bookings only. Not valid if booked through a third party.
Kona Fishing Charter is valid for one (1) to six (6) passengers OF ANY AGE.

A 100% refund will be applied for cancellations made 15 days or more from the date of departure.
Refunds made less than 15 days of departure will be assessed a cancellation fee of:
- Full Day 10-Hour Charter – $325 Cancellation Fee
- Full Day 8-Hour Charter – $250 Cancellation Fee
- 3/4 Day Charter – $200 Cancellation Fee
- 1/2 Day Charter – $175 Cancellation Fee
A 50% refund will be applied for cancellations within 72 hours of departure.
Changes to charter date and times may be made within 15 days of departure on a space available basis.
Cancellation due to weather deemed by the Captain to be unsafe will be refunded or rebooked on a space available basis (but it rarely happens here in Kona).
No refunds will be granted if you fail to show up for your charter on the date and time of your reservation and fail to notify us of cancellation in advance.
