April Fishing in Kona Hawaii Produces Good Numbers of Spearfish and Striped Marlin

Hawaii Fishing Report for Kona – April 2011 Kona delivered a typical late Spring bounty in April with lots of shortbilled spearfish and striped marlin showing up.  According to The Charter Desk, anglers fishing on charter boats out of Kona Hawaii caught a total of 35 Blue Marlin (19 weighed in and 16 tagged and released), 1 Sailfish, 1 Black Marlin, 43 Spearfish (26 weighed in and 17 tagged and released), and 37 Striped Marlin (13 weighed in and 24 tagged and released).

Of the 35 Blue Marlin caught on charters out of Kona this month, 7 fish weighed over 500 lbs and the largest Blue Marlin weighed in during April weighed 609.5 lbs.  In addition to the great fishing for blue marlin, striped marlin and spearfish, anglers also caught 33 yellowfin tuna; the largest weighing over 200 lbs.
