First Tagged Blue Marlin 450 lbs.

Kimberly McCoy of Chicago, IL tagged and released this 450 lb blue marlin on her first fishing charter in Kona Hawaii. The fish hit a custom “Straight Runner” lure made by Henry Chee Jr. himself. The marlin fought about 25 minutes, jumping several times, before finally being wired in by Henry “Butch” Chee before being tagged and released.

Fishing Trip Reviews

fishing-charter reviews by christa mCaptain Jeff and Brett were great! We are seasoned anglers and can tell a top notch operation when we see it and they for sure are! We were able to hook up 2 marlins during our trip and it was just a great experience. We will be back again and for sure will be booking another trip with the humdinger crew!

fishing charter reviews by thegman1975 RochesterFirst time deep=sea fishing and hooked a 150 lb yellow fin tuna! It was a struggle but with the help and encouragement from Capt Brett and first mate Ryan I was able to land the tuna that was as big as me! Only thing I would change would be not to get seasick after all that exertion. Next time I will stay hydrated and let my Dad do more of the work reeling in the big fish. Jack G

fishing charter reviews by Phillip DI had not been offshore fishing in decades and Captain Jeff made me feel so at ease and all that was before I caught a 300 lb marlin. It just got better after that. I cannot suggest a better day.

fishing charter reviews by ShortBait1966Had the chance to book a Kona fishing charter on our trip to the big island and was fortunate to find a half day charter on the Humdinger on short notice. Having done a lot of deep sea fishing on party boats, I wasnt sure what to expect on a private charter. We never fished far from shore, maybe a mile or two at the most. We caught a small blue marlin and a rare speafish and missed a mystery bite. All in all it was a great day and the crew was fantastic. I would highly recommend them.

fishing charter reviews by Julious D HoustonOn my last trip to Kona, Capt Jeff put me on my first blue marlin, a 300 lb fish we caught on live bait. On my recent return to Kona, I had the pleasure to fish Jeff again, and this time his son Brett who now is co-captain and crew. The crew didn’t disappoint. We caught a nice spearfish, and went 1-2 on blue marlin on a 3/4 fishing charter and it all happened within sight of the shoreline. Great trip guys!! Thanks again. See you on our next visit.
